POSITION TITLE: Director Sales and Marketing  / Head Sales and Marketing

REPORTS TO: General Manager

POSITION SUMMARY:

To oversee and manage sales staff and reservation to ensure maximum revenue, promotional coverage and marketing opportunities are achieved.

The DOSM should work closely with revenue management and marketing functions, to develop strategies to maximize REVPAR and grow market share.


 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1) Maintain and promote a team work environment with effective and clear communication among co-workers. 

2) Ensure best client service is being made available through communication among the team, cross training within the department and appropriate office coverage. 

3) Works with sales managers to ensure understanding of sales strategy and effective implementation of this strategy for the segment. 

4) Works with management team to create and implement a sales plan addressing revenue, customers and the market for the segment led by the DOS. 

5) Set example through professional, friendly and positive attitude towards clients and co-workers, timely response to clients and co-workers needs and observance of sales office standard. 

6) Prepare, implement and compile data for the strategic sales plan, monthly reports, annual goals, sales and marketing budget, forecast and other reports as directed/required

7) Follow and track company cross-sell procedures. 

8) Utilize company profile database to determine geographic areas for travel agent calls while maintaining top and existing travel agent accounts.

9) Knowledge  of Travel industry, current market trends and economic factors.

10) Assists with the development and implementation of promotions, both internal and external.

11) Creating a focus on attracting new business.

12) Attending and contributing to the monthly sales strategy meeting 

13) Updating and owning the sales strategy & sales plan with the General Manager. 

14) Review and approves any special corporate negotiated rates by signing the CVGR (Company Volume guaranteed rate) contract. 

15) Provides positive and aggressive leadership to ensure maximum revenue potential (e.g., sets example with personal booking goals). 

16) Leads on-property sales functions to build long-term, value-based customer relationships that enable achievement of hotel sales objectives. 

17) Recommends monthly room nights target goals for sales team members. 

18) Participates in sales calls with members of sales team to acquire new business and/or close on business. 

19) Develop and send informative press releases to targeted lists highlighting all activities and promotions. 

20) Maintain and expand corporate incentive program 

21) Oversee and ensure the update of rates, promotions on hotel website, OTA's (Online travel agents), GDS etc. without any rate parity. 

22) Responsible for training of sales team 

23) Follow and promote hotel standards with guests, co-workers. 

24) Evaluates and drives the hotel’s participation in the various sales channels, Market Sales, Event Booking Center, electronic lead channels, etc. 

25) Monitors all day to day activities of direct reports.

26) Executes and supports the operational aspects of business booked (e.g., generating proposal, writing contract, customer correspondence).

PREREQUISITES:

High degree of commercial awareness and be able to understand links between sales and profit with excellent sales and negotiation skills. Good business sense and the ability to motivate and lead a team.

EDUCATION:

3-year degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or MBA.

QUALIFICATION : Skills & Experience

  1. Bachelor’s degree required
  2. Requires advanced knowledge of the principles and practices within the sales/marketing/hospitality profession
  3. Minimum five years of sales and marketing in the 4 or 5 star hotel industry
  4. 5 to 6 years experience in the sales and marketing or related professional area. Minimum 3 years experience in a senior sales role
  5. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and property management systems.
  6. Command of the English language both written and verbal
  7. Strong media, presentation and computer skills

JOB DESCRIPTION CONCISE
The Director of Sales and Marketing is responsible for the daily sales efforts and is responsible for the overall positioning of the hotel, brand communication and the development of customers for the property including, Rooms, Dining Outlets, and Events. In addition, they are responsible for rental revenue, yield strategies, implementation, market performance and meeting budget, forecast, and optimal business mix targets. Strategies will include pricing, status, direct sales, market mix, marketing, and public relations. Candidates must have a dynamic leadership style, possessing excellent communication and decision making skills and an astute business acumen.

DIRECTOR OF SALES 

The Director of Sales (& Marketing) is the head of the sales department. He/she is in charge of training and supervising of the hotel´s sales (& marketing) team. 

The Director of Sales (& Marketing) works closely with the General Manager to determine appropriate sales strategies in all market segments towards maximizing the hotel revenues. He/she is also responsible for a maximum of occupancy of conferences and banquettes in order to optimize general business opportunities. 

The Director of Sales (& Marketing) creates lucrative sales targets and networks business relations to corporate client, like airlines, tourist offices, different book services etc. 

He/she has to observe the market, identity trend and monitor the main competitors. Based on his/her notices he/she creates sales targets depending on the tide of events. 

All in all the control of expenses and the best possible costs cutting subject belongs to his/her responsibility. 

The Director of Regional Sales manages key accounts and oversees the accounts management in all activities for one special region. He/she aims to maximize sales activities in his/her region. He/she leads and manages the team in the Regional Sales Office.

Position Overview: 

Supervise and control the group sales’ operations to meet/exceed sales, revenue and profit objectives. Solicit, negotiate and confirm new and repeat business through various efforts (outside sales calls, telemarketing, direct mail, referrals, site inspections, tours, networking, etc) on a national and international level. 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities 

1. Maximize hotel’s group room revenue on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis and direct sales focus to achieving hotel revenue goals. 

2. Develop and continually enhance relationships with key corporate, diplomatic and association accounts. 

3. Advise Director of Marketing and Sales on all matters relating to group sales to maintain an open line of communication and harmony among departments. 

4. Handle inquiry calls and walk-in site inspections. 

5. Implement company programs and direct the operations to meet and exceed budgeted revenues while ensuring customer satisfaction. 

6. Assist in ensuring that the Hotel’s Green Team remains invigorated and the mission is upheld, communicated and enforced throughout the organization as a member of the Team. 

7. Perform other functions as required and directed. 

Qualifications:

Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers and the general public. 

Mathematical Skills: 

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference and apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations. 

Physical Ability:
